As God’s people the Lord has given us a clear ...

As God’s people the Lord has given us a clear command in Mark 16 v 15 ‘..Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel..’ In his address to the disciples, Jesus is clear that their role was to ‘go out’ and reach, rather than ‘stay in’ and invite. Christ was acutely aware of how blind man was to the truth of the gospel and therefore understood their stubborn hearts. He knew that the practical outworking of faith by engaging with the unrighteous in their everyday lives would yield much fruit and cause many to turn from their sin and follow him. Consider the women at the well or the way in which Christ called the disciples themselves.

And so, just this month, Hope for Youth Ministries had the fantastic opportunity to take up a stand at the Balmoral Show, which is held at the Kings Hall, Belfast every year. The event was attended by over 70,000 people over the 3 days and was a great platform on which to present the good news of God’s Salvation. The event attracts people from all walks of life, ranging from families to farmers, food manufacturers to photographers, and business professionals to equestrian enthusiasts. The needs of these people are as varied as their professions or aspirations, however they all have one thing in common – the need to hear of how God loved them enough to sacrifice His only Son, so they could know forgiveness from their sin.

The outreach consisted of 3 elements. 1). Book and literature stand located inside one of the main exhibitor halls. 2). Short Bible quiz/questionnaire 3). Tract distribution on the main thorough fairs and entrances. During the 3 days, the 23 strong team, distributed over 15,000 tracts (both children and adult). It was so encouraging to see how the tracts were widely accepted by all, with only a few refusals. Many people stopped to look at the book stall with the ‘Daily Devotional for children and early teens’ being the most popular purchase. The short Bible quiz/questionnaire was a great way to engage with both young and old as they passed by. In the form of a light hearted memory test, visitors were tasked with answering simple questions about a verse of scripture or even recalling famous verses from the Bible, such as John 3:16. It was such a delight to read Gods Word to those who volunteered, especially to those who never or rarely had come in contact with the scriptures.

Perhaps what encouraged us the most, was the reaction of both other believers and the exhibitors around us. It was clear from our conversations that people were glad to see a little corner of ‘truth and light’ amidst all the pressure of commerce and business. It is our prayer that God will use the simple fact that His people were not ashamed to proclaim the glorious truth of his word even amongst all the hustle and bustle of such an event.

We are careful to give all the glory to God and pray His still small voice will speak on in the hearts of those we came in contact with.

Perhaps you are a Christian, but feel you might not be able to witness to others in this way. Consider what the Lord says to us through His word in Isaiah 40 v 29 – 31 – He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

We encourage you to live boldly for God and walk in the confidence that He has gone before you and has already prepared the way. He alone will guide and offer strength which will enable you to take your stand for Him.

Joanna and I are priveleged to be used by God ...

Joanna and I are priveleged to be used by God to minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ to children and young people. Already in 2011 the Lord has opened so many doors which has enabled us to share our faith with those who need both encouragement and salvation. We pray that God will continue to do so for the rest of this year and many more to come.

Looking back we celebrate and give God the glory for being able to present the good news of Christ to over 10,000 children in 2010 alone. God has done this through Bible Fun Weeks, Missions, Summer camps, school assembly visits and trips to Poland. Naturally Joanna and I have not carried this work out ourselves! We have been so blessed and encouraged by the willingness and enthusiasim of volunteers, helpers and mission teams and wish to take this opportunity to thank ALL those who have sacrificed their valuable time and energy in order to Glorify God in this way.

As for the year ahead, we are very excited about the many more missions and bible clubs planned, as well Tollymore Camp and two more trips to Poland (August & Sept). Also this October, we are delighted to visit the Isle of Man for the very first time, to take school assembly’s and distribute Bibles and a copy of our new Creation Booklet. Following a recent trip to the island, 11 schools have confirmed bookings. We sincerely praise God for this opportunity and look forward to our 1 week trip in the Autumn.

Thank you once again for all your prayers, support and encouragement.

May God richly bless you as you continue to serve Him.

Colin & Joanna

Creation is one of the most interesting and fascinating subjects we can talk about. All around we can see the perfect handiwork of God. The grass, tress, animals and people are all the work of God.

In this colourful 48 page book, Colin has sough to tell the creation story from the beginning of teh work until God destroyed the world with a flood and started to repopulate the earth all over again.

From the beginning God had a perfect plan and something went wrong, terribly wrong. In this book you can read all about God’s perfect plan for us and how he sent his Son Jesus into the world to save us. Every generation needs to hear this story and here it is told again for the children of today. Cick here to read an excerpt.

Check out this short video presentation on the first mission ...

Check out this short video presentation on the first mission trip to Poland this year. 22 of Gods servants experienced tremendous blessing as they worked with the Polish children and young people. Gary Adair, from Randlestown was one of the leaders on the trip and the following report is a short account of his time in Poland. We trust this video and report will inspire you get involved in this amazing work and witness first hand how God is moving in the lives of young people in Poland.

”My first trip to Poland was in September 2010 when we spent 4 days with Henrick. The team I was with was involved in food drops, taking services in orphanages and spending a full day doing workshops and children’s meetings at the Baptist College, Warsaw. The Lord blessed me and encouraged me so much during that trip that when heard the team was coming out in Feb 2011, I decided once again to come along on the trip. This trip lasted for 1 week in Wesla. Our team from Northern Ireland consisted of 24 members plus a number of Polish leaders. A total of 65 Polish orphans attending the camp. God really blessed from the beginning of the trip by bonding the team in unity and this lasted for the duration of the camp.

I enjoyed the trip being longer this time, because it gave me more time to speak with the Polish leaders and find out about the children which gave me a better understanding of their homes and lives. The children were all so friendly and wanted to spend time with the team. Their behaviour during the workshops was excellent and each one of them wanted to participate fully from the youngest to the oldest no matter what the workshop was.

The main reason for coming on the trip was to share the precious gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. During the meetings, both morning and evening, it was wonderful to see the Children so enthusiastic in worshipping the Lord. It was also wonderful being part of the team and taking part in the meetings.

I found the teaching of the bible stories especially blessed. On Friday night was a night when God really came down in the meeting and dealt in the lives of a number of the children and a young Polish woman. I have met a lot of very special children and young people during this week and I hope to keep in contact with some of them. I pray that God will continue to bless the work of brother Henrick as he labours faithfully with the children in Poland. God’s word tells us in Isaiah 55v11 ‘So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”.
